-
New to volleyball or returning after a long break. The focus is on keeping the ball in play, learning basic rules, and building confidence in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. You may serve underhand or overhand with some consistency, but three hits are not yet automatic. Double hits and lifts happens. This is where you learn the game and meet the community.
-
You have some organised experience and can make three hits most rallies. You understand basic rotations (6-0 or 4-2), have a designated setter, and can serve overhand with reasonable consistency. Your passing and hitting are solid but may lack power and accuracy. This level bridges the gap between learning the game and playing competitively.
-
You have a consistent three-hit game with a designated setter and understand 5-1 or 6-2 rotations. You can pass accurately to the setter, set a hittable ball, and attack with power and placement. Blocking is part of your game. Many players at this level have come through junior development programs, club teams or local competition. The pace is faster, rallies are longer, and the expectation is competitive but social play.
-
You have experience in state league, premier competition, or a player development pathway such as the Volleyball Victoria programs. You can serve with power and placement, pass accurately under pressure, run a 5-1 or 6-2 offence consistently, and attack with variety. You read the game, block effectively, and play defence at a high level. This is fast-paced, competitive volleyball with complex systems and high-level teamwork.
